Sourcing ceramics
in bulk from India.

India is one of the largest ceramic sourcing bases in the world, and Khurja is its décor hub. This guide walks a B2B buyer through the practical decisions: whether to buy from a trader or a factory, how to sample and check quality, and how a bulk order actually flows from shortlist to dispatch.

The First Decision

Trader or factory?

Most ceramic sourcing in India runs through one of two routes. A trader or agent buys from factories and resells to you, adding a margin and rarely able to change the product. A manufacturer sells what it makes, at factory pricing, and can adjust glaze, size, form, and branding because the pieces are made in-house.

For a buyer who wants control over the design and the sharpest pricing on volume, sourcing direct from the manufacturer is the stronger route. That is the model we run: B2B only, made in our own unit, sold without a middleman.

How It Works

The bulk order, step by step.

01

Shortlist

Browse the range and pick the categories and designs that fit your buyers. A mixed consignment across categories is fine.

02

Quote

Send the shortlist with rough quantities. We return a quote based on your assortment, volume, and any customisation, usually within 24 hours.

03

Sample

Order samples to judge the body, glaze, and any fittings in person. For custom work, we produce a sample of the exact design for approval.

04

Confirm

Approve the pieces, quantities, and price. Lead time is confirmed against the order rather than quoted as one number for every job.

05

Production & QC

The order is made and every batch is quality-checked before dispatch, so what ships matches what you approved.

06

Dispatch

Pieces are packed for transit and dispatched across India. When a line sells through, reorder it from the same file.

Quality Checklist

What to check before scaling.

  • High-fired stoneware body, not soft earthenware
  • Glaze reads true to the sample, batch to batch
  • Functional pieces are food-safe and lead-free
  • Moving parts (pump lids) work reliably
  • Packed and cushioned for transit
  • Batch quality-checked before dispatch

Common Questions

About sourcing from India.

Should I buy from a trader or a factory?

A factory sells at manufacturer pricing and can customise glazes, sizes, and branding, because the pieces are made in-house. A trader adds a margin and usually cannot change the product. If you want control over the design and the best pricing on bulk, source direct from the manufacturer.

How do I check quality before a bulk order?

Order samples first. Samples let you judge the body, glaze, weight, and any moving parts such as a dispenser pump before you commit to a run. For custom work, approve a sample of the exact design before full production begins.

Do I need an import licence to buy from Khurja?

No. We supply within India. For an Indian retailer, distributor, or designer there are no import formalities: orders are dispatched domestically to your location. Provide your GSTIN and delivery details and we handle the dispatch.

How are bulk orders packed and dispatched?

Orders are packed for transit, with fragile pieces cushioned and boxed to keep breakage low, and dispatched across India. Every batch is quality-checked before it leaves the factory.
